Frequently asked questions about coding and labeling
What's the difference between TTO ribbon and TTR ribbon? Can they be used interchangeably?
TTO ribbon runs in a printer mounted directly on the packing line, overprinting onto packaging film as it moves through. TTR ribbon runs in a separate barcode label printer, printing onto roll labels before they're applied. Both use thermal-transfer technology, but the machines are different — they aren't interchangeable, so match the ribbon to the machine you actually have.
What information should I send before ordering ribbon, foil, or parts?
Send a photo of the machine's nameplate, the existing part number if you have one, and the actual dimensions in use — printhead width, roll length, or character size. Our team checks compatibility before quoting so you don't end up sending parts back.
Do you only support Union Coding machines, or other brands too?
Alongside Union Coding's own machines and consumables, we also supply ribbon and parts compatible with other TTO brands such as Linx, Markem-Imaje, and Videojet. Send us your machine model and we'll confirm compatibility before quoting.
Can I order just consumables without buying a new machine?
Yes. Most of our coding and labeling customers already have a machine running and simply need an ongoing supply of ribbon, foil, labels, or replacement parts — no new machine purchase required.
